The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy is based on an ancient treatment that has been practiced for centuries in Latin America by traditional healers and midwives, and further developed by Dr. Rosita Arvigo.  It is a gentle, external self-care massage technique used to gently guide the uterus and supporting organs into optimal placement in the pelvis, supporting reproductive health, digestive health, general well-being, and the body’s innate capacity to heal.

In this one-day course, you will learn about the history and lineage of the Arvigo ® techniques and stories from the traditional Maya elders and healers. We will cover basic anatomy and physiology as it applies to the pelvic and abdominal organs and reproductive system and how the vital flow of blood, lymph, and chi can be compromised by displaced pelvic organs. We will discuss signs and symptoms and causes of a displaced uterus and the ensuing effect on our health. You will learn the simple self-care technique and have time to practice on yourself so you will come away with a tool for daily self-care.
Additionally, we will discuss an introduction to herbal support and traditional healing, and information from the Maya and indigenous midwives, elders and healers on their views of women’s health and spiritual healing.
This class is not for professional training but is a wonderful way to begin to learn about these ancient techniques and to see if you would like to go on to advanced training. It is appropriate for massage therapists, physical therapists, healthcare practitioners, and women from all walks of life.
Cindy is a long-time Arvigo® practitioner and Instructor and loves sharing the knowledge and the wisdom of the elders with you. We will weave stories, plants and herbal information, ritual, and song into the day, to make it joyful, uplifting, and meaningful.

Fee includes donation to the Traditional Healers Fund of Belize, healthy snacks, and course materials.
Please note: class is located in a a beautiful space on the second floor, where you enter up a wide stair case. However, there is no elevator.
