The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy®

Introductory Trainings

Our Introductory workshops are designed for any person (18-years or older) who is interested in learning more about Arvigo® Therapy; such as history, lineage, basic anatomy and physiology as well as self-care practices for health and wellness.

Hands On Health the Maya Way

This 1-day course provides the participant with a fundamental overview of anatomy and physiology of abdominal organs, history and lineage of the Arvigo® Techniques and hands on application of the techniques for his/herself.

Prerequisites: Anyone may register for this class. No prior training or licensing is required.

Completion of this one-day workshop does not meet the requirements to advance to Professional Care Training.

Self-Care Training - Level 1

This 2.5-day workshop provides an overview of anatomy and physiology of the abdominal and reproductive organs, causes and symptoms of mal-positioned organs, and self-care techniques. This class also addresses herbal, nutritional, spiritual, and emotional support to ensure comprehensive understanding of the modality and how it contributes to health and wellness for one’s personal use only.

Prerequisites: Anyone may register for this class. No prior training or licensing is required.

Completion of Self Care Training prepares the licensed/qualified practitioner to advance to Professional Care Training.

The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy®

Advanced Trainings

Our Advanced Workshops are developed for licensed health care practitioners* to apply Arvigo® Therapy in their practices.

*Examples of eligible practitioners include professionals such as massage therapists, acupuncturists, chiropractors, naprapaths, physicians, nurses, midwives, physical therapists etc.  Feel free to contact the Arvigo Institute for eligibility status.

Anterior Applications for Self and Clients

This 4-day class combines the principles and theory of Arvigo® Self-Care application and addresses the anterior protocol for use on clients.  In addition to anatomy and physiology of the abdomen, self-care, herbal and nutritional support will be reviewed.

Open to licensed health care practitioners.  Successful completion of this workshop is a pre-requisite to moving on to Beyond the Basics Posterior Applications Workshop.

Beyond the Basics - Posterior Applications

This 4-day workshop reviews material and bodywork from the Anterior Applications for Self and Clients. Anatomy and physiology for posterior applications is reviewed with ample bodywork application for hip and sacral alignment to further enhance the anterior protocol.

Prerequisites: Completion of Anterior Applications for Self and Clients.

Successful completion of this workshop allows a Practitioner to move on to Further Advanced Trainings.

Traditional Professional Care Training - Level 2

This 5.5-day workshop is designed for the practitioner who has completed an Arvigo® Self-Care Training and now wants to advance their education theory and bodywork practice to provide both the anterior and posterior protocols to clients. In addition to addressing basic anatomy and physiology of the abdomen, structural alignment of the hips, sacrum, herbal and nutritional support will be addressed.

Open to licensed health care practitioners who have completed Self-Care—Level 1.

Successful completion of this workshop allows a Practitioner to move on to Further Advanced Trainings.

The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy®

Further Advanced Trainings

In order to take these courses a practitioner must have successfully completed either:

  • Traditional Professional Care Training. OR, both of the following
  • ANTERIOR Applications for Self and Clients and Beyond the Basics POSTERIOR Applications

Additional requirement:  the practitioner must also be a current member of the Maya Arvigo International Association (MAIA) are eligible to advance to these courses.

Advanced Clinical Applications (formerly Certification Training) - Level 3

This 5.5-day workshop reviews and refines techniques from previous workshops allowing the practitioner to learn and integrate advanced bodywork techniques and clinical application. Prior to attending class, students must submit the required number of case studies.

Advanced Pregnancy: Supporting Pregnancy from Pre-Conception to Postpartum

This 5.5-day advanced course is designed for practitioners to immerse themselves in theory, hands-on skill building, and traditional approaches to work more effectively with clients from pre-conception to postpartum. This workshop builds on the pregnancy applications addressed in Professional Care Training; and is a “must” for practitioners who work with this client population.

Traditional Maya Healing Approaches for Body, Mind, and Spirit

(Formerly Spiritual Healing)

The Maya believe there is a link between many physical illnesses and unresolved emotional stress and distress.  Dr. Arvigo shares her knowledge of the Maya wisdom as taught to her by Don Elijio Panti.  All faiths and denominations are welcome at these classes.   Attendance in these classes is contraindicated for children and pregnant women.

Introduction Workshop

This introductory workshop reviews Maya healing concepts such as chu’lel (life force) and four major spiritual illnesses of the Maya: susto (fright), pesar (grief), tristeza (sadness), and invidia (envy). The role of healing techniques such as prayer, herbal bathing, and incense in resolving these illnesses are addressed. This experiential workshop is not suited for children or pregnant women. The Introduction Workshop is taught by Arvigo® Certified Teachers.

Prerequisites: Anyone may register for this class. No prior training is required.

Completion of this Introduction Workshop qualifies an individual to attend the Advanced Workshop.

Advanced Workshop

In this advanced workshop, participants build on the knowledge learned in the introductory workshop. Concepts of lost souls, soul retrieval and much more are shared in this experiential offering. This experiential workshop is not suited for children or pregnant women. Dr. Arvigo teaches this workshop in conjunction with Certified Teachers.

Prerequisites: Completion of Introduction Workshop.

Completion of this Advanced Workshop qualifies an individual to attend the Integrative Wisdom Circle.

Integrative Wisdom Circle

This integrative seminar builds on participants experiences with the previous workshops delving deeper into theism concepts for themselves and/or clients. Daily healing rituals, small group discussion, journaling, mediation and client applications will be an instrumental focus of this workshops.  Dr. Arvigo facilitates this workshop with advanced teachers.

Prerequisites: Completion of Advanced Workshop.
